Boys Are Still Reading

by Carol Davison

October 31, 2007

The boys are still enjoying reading every day as they explore the world around them! Some of the less sturdy books have met an untimely end or now carry tooth marks at a corner or two.  Books with the thick cardboard pages seem to be doing best at the 18-19 months mark. Reading time is now a part of the nightly ritual of getting ready for bed- with the boys using their baby sign language (opening hands touching with palms up) to ask for a favorite book. They point at pictures and often sit together on Dad's lap to enjoy this quieting moment. Both boys also enjoy "reading" to themselves on car trips as well as part of their independent play.
