Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year at the new Joseph Arthur Middle School! As the first Art Teacher in the district, I am proud to have lighted an artistic torch to pass to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
Through my instruction, students will acquire the development, ability, and understanding of production skills and processes in a wide range of 2D and 3D art. This foundation of knowledge opens doors that appear locked or unapproachable to many. Developing the creative nature of children, exploring the contributions and values of past and present societies, and building critical thinking and aesthetic understanding, helps students to become visually literate and find and convey meaning in the world around us.
