Kindergarten expectations for success.....
Each kindergarten student will be expected to demonstrate, with 80% accuracy, each of the following:
*Counts to 100
*Recognizes numbers 0-50
*Understands concepts of sets up to 10
*Adds and Subtracts with small numbers
* Recognizes similarities and differences
*Recognizes 11 basic colors
*Recognizes shapes
*Tells a simple story
*Recognizes all letters of the alphabet and their sounds
*Sounds or reads three letter words
*Rhymes words
*Identifies and counts (penny, dime, nickel, quarter)
*Tells time to the hour
*Has an attention span long enough to follow along with work
*Identifies patterns
** Parents will be notified of a possible retention at the close of the third quarter, if any of the following conditions exist:
* Student’s academic performance is seriously declining from the second quarter to the third quarter.
* Student is lacking in independent skills
* Student lacks social, emotional, and/or academic maturity
** Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled in the fall& spring. Conferences may be scheduled at other times, as needed. Parents should feel free to contact the teacher if they wish to have a conference.
