Librarians Attend Summer Institute
by Lisa Taffe
June 22, 2010
Librarians Mrs. Clayton and Mrs. Taffe participated in the Institute for School and Public Librarians held June 13-18, 2010, at Bradley University in Peoria. The institute provided six days of workshops covering such topics as Web 2.0, Internet Safety, Readers Advisory, and Storytelling. The Illinois State Library and Bradley University, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the federal Library Services and Technology Act, has sponsored the institute for the past 16 years. Librarians in both school and public libraries in Illinois may apply, and approximately 50 attendees are selected. The institute is a great opportunity to pick up new ideas and to network with colleagues. Mrs. Clayton and Mrs. Taffe plan to share what they learned with the teachers at Central Elementary and Joseph Arthur Middle School.
