Good afternoon.

First, I want to say congratulations to the 8th graders and good luck in your futures. Despite the interruption of the coronavirus, we had a great half a year in the JAMS BAND this year.

As a band that is still new, we did more performances this year, than any of our previous two years. First, we played the Star-Spangled Banner for the “A Night to Unite” event for the first responders in O’Fallon, IL. Next, we did two Veterans Day concerts and finished the year with our own Holiday Concert. Once returning from winter break, 9 students performed at IGSMA District Solo & Ensemble Contest, where 2 students received 1st Superior ratings and the other 7 received 1st place ratings. Also, we were honored to play the “Principal of the Year” assembly for Dr. Young.

While preparing for our Spring Concert and IGSM State Solo & Ensemble contest, the order was given to shelter in place at home, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The band did not let the separation stop them from performing. 6 students recorded their Pomp & Circumstance parts remotely on a digital recording platform, and I mixed the project so we could so we could sound as though we performed one final song together for the 2019/2020 school year.

Lastly, our students had to resort to online learning to continue their music education. I want to take time and congratulate the top performers of the JAMS BAND Music Online learning. The advanced band 1st place performers were Kyle Lockwood and Madi Null, completing 38 of 38 assignments. Advanced Band 2nd place performers were Mark Aromando and Samara Middleton, completing 36 of 38 assignments. Advanced Band 3rd place performers were Amanda Lovell and Hayden Roumpos, completing 34 of 38 assignments. Beginning Band 1st place performers were Daniel McComb and Kadence Farrell, completing 32 of 36 assignments. The Beginning Band 2rd place performer went to Noelle Cowden, completing 31 of 36 assignments. Below is a YouTube link so you can share in some of the good times we had in the JAMS BAND this year.

                                       Sincerely, Stanley Dunlap
