Dear Parents/Guardians,

In preparation for the return to in person learning, there are some guidelines we must follow to keep everyone safe and healthy. The health and safety of our staff and students is a top priority and we are working closely with our local health department to monitor COVID-19 and establish guidelines that will help us prevent further school closures and keep in person learning possible. You are a vital part in helping us keep school open for safe and healthy learning by carefully following the guidelines provided.

Keep your child(ren) home if they are not feeling well and call your health care provider for instructions, recommended treatment & return to school guidance as per school policies. Any student coming to school presenting with one or more of ANY of the following symptoms will be denied entry or sent home and provided remote instruction.

  • Fever (100.4F or higher)
  • Chills/Shivering
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain from unknown cause
  • Congestion/runny nose
  • If your child has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or been diagnosed with COVID-19 keep home and notify school.

Medical evaluation and Testing are strongly recommended for ALL persons with COVID-Like Symptoms.

If your child has any of the above symptoms at school, he/she will be sent to a supervised isolation area where he/she will be evaluated and sent home. Siblings at school may also be sent home. Students will be required to wear a mask in isolation until a parent can pick them up from school. Please make sure the school has up todate contact information and a current phone number. We MUST be able to contact you to have your sick child picked up immediately from the designated isolation area. Please make sure to have someone available to pick up your child in case you are unable to pick them up. Upon return to school the student must provide a Dr. note or be cleared by the nurse or principal after illness regarding the guidelines for return. We will be working with the local health department and will provide additional instructions if needed.

If you call in an absence for your child, please provide the following information

  • Student Name
  • Teacher
  • The reason they are missing school today (dentist, doctor appt or ill etc.)
  • If absent due to illness, please indicate whether your child has tested positive for COVID-19, has been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or if your child has any of the symptoms mentioned above.

Please do not give your child medication (Tylenol or Ibuprofen) before school to help them with any symptoms, instead keep them home. Make sure your child eats a good breakfast to help with any stomach aches caused by not eating well. Water fountains will not be in use, please send a clean refillable water bottle labeled with your child’s name to school every day. Water bottle filling stations will be available. Practice proper hand washing, wearing and laundering of masks, and social distancing with your child. There are videos illustrating this on our website.

If your child has a medical condition, please contact the nurse. He/she should have a completed Emergency action/care plan available on our school website and completed by your child’s Dr. and returned to the nurse. If your child has asthma, It is recommended that nebulizer treatments be given at home. Students with asthma should have an inhaler and an asthma action plan completed by the prescribing physician. Any child with a pre-existing medical condition or weakened immune system is encouraged to talk with their primary health care provider for clearance to return to in person learning along with a care plan from their provider.
